ELECTROPROTECT The renewable paradox. From light to electricity by use of Inverters
The purpose of this critique is by no means a cutting criticism of renewable energy in principle or manufacturers in general. It does however bring to light issues with the subsequent quality of electricity, in homes and neighbourhoods with Solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations, which demand our consideration in light of irrefutable elemental physics, and of biology, should we choose to listen out for what’s new in this age of information.
The generation of Voltage transients (Unwanted frequencies in the system) during inversion contribute to increasing your electricity bill and potentially compromising your well-being.
1. Will explain briefly where quality of electricity matters from an electrical engineering point of view, In order to draw parallels between electrical machines and our Body electrical system. Q : Do we consider ourselves electrical beings containing electronic components ?
2. How the standard 50 Hz electricity we could tolerate in the past has changed our homes electrical wiring into a transmitter which now represents a tipping point for our biology.
3 How, If you have either PV or EV installed, your home is on par with living in a 24hr industrial zone, how to prove it, and what you can do to mitigate the problem as well as reducing your electricity bill.
4. leniency in the objective approach required to drive refinements in design and application of inverters, before you sign up only discover you need to invest another £3.000 to clean up your power supply.
1. .Electrical noise and transients
.Two concepts! 1st electrical effects do not require a direct physical connection. 2nd We refer here to unwanted high frequency signals jumping onto all electrical circuits.
Causes! Transients are unavoidable in inversion they are created by the fast switching of relatively high current inductive loads. (Present in all electronic charging devices.)
There are 4 coupling mechanisms and 1 ground wire current to consider.
A. Capacitive. An electrostatic shock from synthetics or a lightning strike. (Through air)
B. Inductive . Every wire conductor with current flowing has an associated magnetic field capable of inducing current in another electrical system in its proximity. (Us a Transformer). C. Conducted noise from a direct metallic connection i.e. polluted ground conductor .Earth leakage from capacitive filters is one to remember here( Grounded yoga mat or bedsheet)
D. RFI Radio Frequency Interference, from10 kHz to the 10 s of MHz and higher ranges these frequencies, lengths of wire start acting like transmitting and receiving antennas.(Through air as a signal).
These are all characteristics which must be addressed when engineers build electrical equipment for industry, so as to avoid damaging or affecting the performance of other equipment in proximity, they form the basis of electromagnetic compatibility regulations for machine compliance.
Smart meters register KVA i.e. the peaks and dips in voltages in the noise as chargeable electricity .When you install the right filter,that is no longer the case. So you can see your filter investment reflected in your bill relative to the noise you once had.
2 THE CHANGES. we may or may not at this point truly consider ourselves electrical systems invariably subject to similar if not the same potential forms of coupling as electrical wiring or equipment, particularly as we managed to tolerate electricity to to date. However the introduction of high frequency which represents a huge bandwidth of signals coming onto the body has for a growing number of individuals become problematic may signify the fact that our home environment shifts into one given over to industrial electrical considerations without our knowledge, may now prove reasonable grounds for further investigation. In particular where the statement clean energy could be reasonably assigned in the universally accepted sense.
3.PROVING D.E.BY MEASUREMENT
The common term for electrical noise and Line voltage transients is Dirty electricity. Equipment for measuring dirty electricity ranges from a simple plug in device which is about £150 up to £10,000 for a Fluke power analyser. Oscilloscopes are another suitable measuring device. One can get into great detail here but suffice to say, what to do about it is the leading consideration. I mentioned Earth leakage earlier which is a by product of all grounded electronic equipment .A correctly sized and ensuring low impedance (ohms resistance) measurement is the best we can do with the exception of suppression filters placed in strategic positions.
Note on EMC FILTERS.the commonly used Capacitive EMC filters, highlight some factors in common found with the few i have tested. 1st they create Direct current and noise on the ground conductors by design. 2nd they push the noise onto the neutral which is common and unswitchedthroughout the installation. This is a problem for people already affected by over exposure to noise. There are alternatives I can offer guidance with just get in touch.
4 RAISING THE ISSUE with sales representatives will lead sooner or later a situation where industry will integrate solutions. I advocate leniency and appreciation of what has been achieved to date. One cannot really expect engineers to be up to date and take into account how quantum physics plays a central role in biology in response to external influences. In the USA awareness is growing of the extreme intensity of Solar inversion, which varies so much it requires a case by case evaluation. Invariably one is obliged to clean up power to the home circuits leaving the noisy Solar to back feed into the local grid network.
This is perhaps one of the reasons why permission needs to be sought from the power provider to install Solar PV. The common suppliers neutral has a limited capacity to deal with noise and harmonics before it overheats causing voltage drop and other complex issues in local supply lines. They had to resort to grounding the neutral rather than dig up the road to install bigger cables. .This is why I mentioned the disturbance within a neighbourhood at the beginning ,because there is more current in the common ground connection we all share.
Along with the neutral return path.
Now I hope we can begin to appreciate how the word electricity means something entirely different to thirty years ago. We have the means technically to shift the paradox. .the signs are all around us how could it be otherwise .
